You all know how much I love my local businesses! I have a new favorite place that has changed the way I feel about my face! Let’s meet Monica Quintanilla with LaMoni’s Waxing Studio…
Monica got her start in the beauty industry working for Estée Lauder when she was just 21 years old. After she had her son she noticed she was missing out on things and wanted to spend more time with him. Monica decided to open an in-home daycare while he was young and attending school. As her son was nearing the end of his high school career, Monica started thinking about what was next for her. She missed the beauty industry and her research lead her to an esthetician school in Austin, TX. After graduating from esthetician school she worked at a day spa for two years doing facials and waxing. She then went on to work at a waxing spa for seven years, where she was able to grow and become really great at what she does.
She started her own business, LaMoni’s Waxing Studio, in 2017 and she now has two employees.
How LaMoni’s Waxing Studio made it through Covid
As a small business, Monica was able to endure the time she had to be closed during covid, trusting that her dream wouldn’t be taken away. When she reopened people were ready to come back to see her, including new clients! Her business has continued growing ever since. She has had to hire two employees and has had to move to a larger location which is now conveniently located near Mueller, just west past the roundabout on 51st Street at 900 East 51st Street, Suite 100, Austin TX 78751 (next to Casey’s Snowballs).
Owning a small business
For Monica, one of the best parts of owning a small business is being a part of the everyday life of her clients. She enjoys seeing them come back and catching up with everyone! She also loves building relationships within her community in Central Austin. While owning her own business she has also had the opportunity to help two other young ladies start building their careers.
Another perk to being the owner is being able to support other local vendors. Monica carries a private line of body butter and exfoliants that are ethically made and locally sourced.
Monica would love to see LaMoni’s continue to grow! She has hopes to hire more staff, including another esthetician and eventually somebody to run the front desk.
Services offered at LaMoni’s Waxing Studio
LaMoni’s started as a waxing studio offering head-to-toe waxing services for men and women. With their growth, they have also added beauty services. These include lash lifting and tinting, lash extensions, brow lamination, facials, and post-waxing masks as well as a product line. Maybe you don’t want to leave the Mueller neighborhood for just anything, but a trip to LaMoni’s just across I-35 is well worth it for these outstanding services!
You can book an appointment with the studio by phone at (512) 535-5300 and on their website. To book with Monica you need to call the studio directly, as she has taken herself off the books because she has gotten so busy!
LaMoni’s offers gift cards and specials throughout the year, so be sure to keep an eye out on Instagram and Facebook! Make sure to check out my interview with Monica on YouTube for even more information and a tour of her studio!
