You all know how much I love my local businesses! I have a new favorite place that has changed the way I feel about my face! Let’s meet Monica Quintanilla with LaMoni’s Waxing Studio…
Monica got her start in the beauty industry working for Estée Lauder when she was just 21 years old. After she had her son, she noticed she was missing out on those little baby milestones and wanted to spend more time with him, so she decided to open an in-home daycare while he was young and attending school. As her son was nearing the end of his high school career, Monica started thinking about what was next for her. She missed the beauty industry and research led her to an esthetician school in Austin, Texas. After graduating from school she worked at a day spa for two years doing facials and waxing. She then went on to work at a waxing spa for seven years, where she was able to hone her skills and become really great at what she does, which is making everyone feel beautiful! LaMoni’s Waxing Studio was founded in 2017.
How LaMoni’s Waxing Studio made it through Covid
As a small business, Monica was able to endure the time she had to be closed during Covid, trusting that her dream wouldn’t be taken away. When she reopened, people were ready to come back to see her, including new clients! Her business has continued to grow ever since; she has hired two employees and has had to move to a larger location at 900 East 51st Street, Suite 100, Austin, TX 78751.
Owning a small business
For Monica, one of the best parts of owning a small business is being a part of the everyday life of her clients, seeing them come back regularly, and catching up. She loves building relationships within her community. While owning her own business she has also had the opportunity to help two other young ladies build their careers while building a life in Austin.
Another perk to being the owner is being able to support other local vendors. Monica carries a private line of body butter and exfoliants that are ethically made and locally sourced.
Monica would love to see LaMoni’s continue to grow! She has hopes to hire more staff, including another esthetician and eventually, someone to run the front desk.
Services offered at LaMoni’s Waxing Studio
LaMoni’s started as a waxing studio offering head-to-toe waxing services for men and women. With their growth, they have added beauty services including lash lifting and tinting, lash extensions, brow lamination, facials, and post-waxing masks as well as their product line.
You can book an appointment with the studio online and on their website. To book with Monica you need to call the studio directly, as she has taken herself off the books because she is in high demand!
