Depending on how long it has been since you last painted the interior of your home, it may be time for a refresh. Some signs that it is time to paint may be faded and discolored paint from the sun shining through the windows, peeling and chipping paint, scuff marks, scratches, and grease stains. Another sure sign that it is time to paint is that the colors may not appeal to all buyers. Dark walls or bright, bold colors may match your style but they will probably not appeal to the largest number of buyers.
Exterior Paint
The exterior of the home is one of the first things a buyer will see and curb appeal is important for making a lasting impression. It will help buyers get a sense of what they can expect when they walk through the front door. A freshly painted exterior using on-trend colors will always look good! According to a survey by HomeGain, painting the exterior of the home leads to a 55% ROI.
So how do you know if you need to paint the exterior? Dull or faded paint, flaking and peeling paint, water damage, mold, and mildew are all signs that a new paint job may be necessary. Cracked caulk, gaps between siding, and wood rot may be a sign that a new paint job and possibly even the replacement of materials is needed. However, make sure to do any repairs before painting, including replacing wood rot and water damage and taking care of any mold issues.
